Thirteen Bi-County Collaborative students recently rolled up their sleeves and dove into the world of healthcare at the 2025 Metro SouthWest Healthcare Career Expo, held at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough. Designed to open doors (and minds) to the many career paths within the healthcare industry, the event offered students an up-close look at what it takes to make a difference in the lives of others. From hands-on demonstrations to conversations with professionals in the field, our students experienced the industry’s heartbeat firsthand.
Among the highlights were a live gallbladder surgery demonstration that left everyone both fascinated and grateful for surgeons, hands-on CPR and first responder training, a peek into nuclear medicine, and an immersive career exploration through TRANSFR’s virtual reality headsets. Students also met representatives from New England Donor Services, learning how compassion and science intersect to save lives. Our students didn’t just watch; they engaged. They asked thoughtful questions, interacted with presenters, and left the event energized and curious about what it takes to start a career in healthcare. Whether their interest leaned toward emergency response, lab science, or the cutting-edge technology shaping modern medicine, one thing was clear: the experience sparked a new sense of purpose. The future of healthcare just might be closer than we think, and judging by our students’ engagement, it’s in good hands.
