Bi-County Staff Steps Up: Igniting Innovation at the 2025 Wilson Language Conference!
Bi-County is on the move — and making bold strides to stay at the forefront of education! This week, four passionate Bi-County educators — Kristina MacPherson, Laurie Caldwell, Heather Wellington, and Michaela Ludwig — along with dedicated Administrator Pam Ludwig, took Boston by storm as they represented our team at the 2025 Wilson Language Training Conference from July 21–22.
But they didn’t stop there — our educators are powering through a third day of training to complete their Introductory Course, the first step toward becoming fully certified in the Wilson Reading System, a highly respected, research-based approach to literacy instruction. Their commitment underscores Bi-County’s mission to support all learners, especially those with Dyslexia and other reading challenges.
The conference opened with a powerful call to action from none other than Barbara Wilson herself, challenging attendees to reframe how we see language instruction with her thought-provoking “Let’s Picture It” activity. Emotions ran high as Ameer Baraka, actor and dyslexia advocate, delivered a heartfelt keynote, reminding us all of the human impact of literacy barriers — and the power of educators to break them down. Dr. Joanna Christodoulou further deepened the discussion with her dynamic session, “Beyond the Basics: Exploring the Complex Link Between SES and Reading Success,” pushing our understanding of literacy equity to the next level.
Bi-County is proud to be part of the momentum — learning, growing, and leading with purpose. Stay tuned… we’re just getting started!
